Toyota Gazoo Racing is gearing up for a challenging and renewal-filled 2024 season. With the unveiling of the new Toyota GR DKR Hilux EVO T1U, the team aims to defend its title at the Dakar 2024 and compete throughout the W2RC season.

The GR DKR Hilux EVO T1U, updated and adapted to the new W2RC categorization, is wider than its predecessor and includes significant improvements. The suspension and air conditioning system have been specially focused on, improving efficiency and cooling capacity.

Five teams will compete under the TGR banner at Dakar 2024. This is the largest lineup Toyota has presented in this competition. The mix of experience and youth is notable, featuring the presence of veteran Giniel de Villiers and promising Lucas Moraes and Seth Quintero. In addition, Moraes and Quintero, along with their co-drivers, will face the full challenge of the W2RC 2024. With Dakar as the first round of the W2RC, these two duos will look to start their campaign strongly, participating in events like the Desafio Ruta 40 in Argentina and the Rally of Morocco.

The GR DKR Hilux EVO T1U has undergone a rigorous development and testing process, covering nearly 30,000 km in competitions and tests during the 2023 season. Tests in the deserts of Kalahari and Namib have been crucial for the final preparations for Dakar.

In line with the Dakar Future project, TGR has partnered with Repsol to develop fuels with 70% renewable content. These advanced fuels, produced from renewable waste such as used cooking oil, are designed to significantly reduce the carbon footprint.

"Dakar 2023 was an incredible experience for me. Finishing on the podium on my first attempt was simply amazing, and while it would have been nice to stay in second place until the end, I was also ecstatic with third place. More importantly, it gives me confidence that I am capable of maintaining the necessary pace throughout the rally and I look forward to competing strongly at Dakar 2024. At the same time, I have learned a lot from my various racing activities this year, and I look forward to expanding this as part of the TGR W2RC team for 2024."

"Making the leap from SSVs to the fastest rally-raid cars in the world is very exciting for me. I have basically moved up through the ranks, and 2024 will be my first opportunity to compete with all the biggest names in the sport. The new version of the GR DKR Hilux EVO T1U has impressed me, and I am confident that we will be able to compete against the competition from the start."
