New Rules for the NASCAR Mexico 2024 Season

The 2024 NASCAR Mexico season introduces some changes to the race format this year. The calendar includes 12 dates, with the first 9 comprising the regular season, which will determine the champion.

The first significant change is the inclusion of 'stage' points in each race, similar to what happens in NASCAR's national divisions in the United States. During the regular season, drivers can accumulate extra points: 3 for the stage winner, 2 for second place, and 1 for third place. In the playoffs, the stage scoring adjusts to 2, 1, and 0.5 points, respectively.

The playoffs this year, scheduled for dates 10 and 11, prioritize drivers with victories in the season. In case of points tie, the regulations will be applied. The scoring scale for the playoffs ranges from 1010 points for the leader to 1000 for the tenth qualifier.

After the tenth date, only the top seven drivers in the overall standings will advance, adding to their score the points earned in the race and stage, plus additional points. The three drivers with the lowest scores will be out of the title race.

The penultimate race, date 11, follows a similar format. Here, after adding the points from that race, another three drivers will be eliminated, leaving only four in the final showdown on date 12.

To qualify for the playoffs, participation in all 9 races of the regular season is crucial. Absence in two races due to force majeure or international commitments is allowed, provided it is notified in advance. If a car cannot compete due to accidents in practices or qualifications, its participation will be considered after technical certification.
