The NXT Gen Cup racing series will not accompany the Formula E this year, as initially planned, reported Jeff Dodds, CEO of the series. The involvement of this competition in Formula E events has been postponed until next year, and it is still under discussion whether it will take place.

The NXT Gen Cup, which utilizes electric MINI Cooper SE cars prepared by Lestrup Racing Team, was supposed to be a competition for young drivers aged 15 to 25. The series was expected to debut in support of Formula E in cities like Berlin, Monaco, and London, starting with the Misano E-Prix. However, due to unforeseen limitations, Formula E withdrew its support for the debut in Italy. Dodds explained that, although his team was ready, it was not possible to overcome the logistical obstacles in time.

Despite the postponement with Formula E, the NXT Gen Cup has prior agreements with the DTM series, expecting to participate in two events. Dodds' hope is that these plans will continue smoothly.

Dodds emphasized the importance of having a support series at Formula E events. The goal is to enrich the experience of attendees and provide an environment where new drivers can showcase and improve their skills. Although it is unlikely that a driver from the NXT Gen Cup will advance directly to compete in Formula E, the series is envisioned as an introduction to the world of racing for young talents.
