Scott Dixon from Chip Ganassi Racing achieved a victory at the IndyCar Grand Prix in Long Beach. Starting from the eighth position, Dixon, the 43-year-old New Zealander, used an alternative strategy during the only caution break of the race, which allowed him to move up to first place, although he had to moderate his fuel consumption.

In the race, Dixon held off Colton Herta, who adopted an opposite strategy that allowed him to maximize his speed. Dixon ended up winning the race on the urban circuit of 1.968 miles with 11 curves by a margin of 0.9798 seconds.

The race began under caution conditions after an issue with race direction, and Felix Rosenqvist, who had obtained the pole position, led the group until the green flag on the second lap. Will Power, from Team Penske, started second and soon overtook Rosenqvist to take the lead.

The event was also marked by contact between the Arrow McLaren teammates, Alexander Rossi and Pato O’Ward, resulting in a penalty for O’Ward and a forced tire change for Rossi, affecting their positions in the race.

During the race, Marcus Ericsson made progress, though he was later overtaken by Herta and Alex Palou, the reigning series champion. The situation on the track changed when an accident involving rookie Christian Rasmussen triggered another caution, altering the race dynamics as several drivers, including Dixon, took the opportunity to switch tire strategies.

Towards the end, Dixon led most of the time, with Newgarden and Herta alternating positions behind him. The race intensified as drivers navigated traffic and avoided incidents. A contact between Herta and Newgarden altered the final positions, allowing Dixon to extend his lead and secure the victory, with Herta and Palou completing the top three positions.
