Ryan Truex secured victory in the BetRivers 200 NASCAR Xfinity Series race. Truex, hailing from New Jersey, only led the last two laps but it was enough to clinch his second consecutive win on this one-mile track.
Starting from the front row in the last restart of the race, Truex managed to pull ahead to take the lead and receive the white flag, indicating the last lap. An incident elsewhere on the track ended the race under a yellow flag. Truex, 32, discussed the challenge of maintaining control of the vehicle during the race and expressed his gratitude towards the fans and the circuit.
On the other hand, Carson Kvapil, driving the No. 88 Chevrolet for JR Motorsports, put in a notable performance. Kvapil, the son of former NASCAR driver Travis Kvapil, achieved one of the top five times in his initial appearances in the series, positioning him as a prominent competitor for future races.
During the final laps, Austin Hill and Sheldon Creed, both former teammates at Richard Childress Racing, appeared to be the main contenders for the win. However, Kvapil took the opportunity to advance and led for eight laps before Truex ultimately took the lead.
Cole Custer, from Stewart-Haas Racing, also had moments of leadership, commanding a total of 95 laps, although a tire and fuel change relegated him to the end of the pack, finishing in fifth position. Custer's result highlighted his resilience under changing race conditions.
The race results move Chandler Smith to the lead in the Xfinity Series championship by a single point over Custer. The next race will be held at the historic Darlington Raceway on May 11.
