Changes at Arrow McLaren: David Malukas leaves the team

Injury and recovery mark end of Malukas and Arrow McLaren partnership

David Malukas has ended his contractual relationship with Arrow McLaren, a decision recently announced by the team. The pilot, originally from the United States, had to undergo surgery on his left wrist due to an accident while mountain biking on February 11. This incident occurred just before the start of the IndyCar season on March 10.

Arrow McLaren explained that the termination of the contract is due to Malukas' inability to participate in the races scheduled to date. As a result of his absence, the team had to call on drivers Callum Ilott and Theo Pourchaire to take his place.

Malukas, who signed with Arrow McLaren in September 2023, was ready to compete in his third season in the IndyCar series. However, his injury prevented him from participating in the races at St. Petersburg, The Thermal Club in Palm Springs, Long Beach, and Barber Motorsports Park.

The driver expressed his disappointment at not being able to make his debut with the team. Although he has striven in his rehabilitation through intensive treatments, physiotherapy, and strength training, his recovery has been slower than expected. Malukas has committed to fully focusing on his recovery to return to compete in full condition.

In the meantime, Arrow McLaren is organizing its driver lineup for the rest of the 2024 season and will soon announce who will take to the track in the upcoming competitions.
