The Aston Martin team has initiated a process to review the penalty imposed on Fernando Alonso at the Chinese Grand Prix. During the event, Alonso received a ten-second penalty and three points on his license for contact with Carlos Sainz. The incident, which took place at turn 9, caused a puncture in Alonso's car, forcing him to retire.

Alonso was disputing the position with Sainz when the contact occurred. Afterwards, Alonso indicated that he had tried to avoid the collision by replicating a maneuver by Sainz in a previous turn, but he was unable to prevent the contact. "I tried to replicate his line to not leave him any space, just like he did before, but in the end, we touched," Alonso stated.

The Aston Martin team now has to present additional evidence that could lead the stewards to reconsider their initial decision. A first hearing session with the team managers of Aston Martin and Ferrari is scheduled to determine the relevance of the evidence presented. The stewards will assess whether a new element not originally available is presented.

If it is considered that there is merit in the evidence presented, a second hearing session will be scheduled, to which other interested parties may be invited to attend.
