The Automóvel Club de Portugal (ACP) and WRC Promoter have signed an agreement that ensures the inclusion of the Vodafone Rally de Portugal in the World Rally Championship calendar until at least 2026. This decision was announced today, highlighting the ongoing impact of this event on the sport and the local economy.

Since its inception in 1973, the Rally de Portugal has been a crucial event in the WRC calendar, known for its technical challenge and the passion it arouses among competitors and fans. The competition, which takes place in the vibrant cities of Matosinhos and Porto, not only attracts tens of thousands of spectators each year but also generates over 60 million euros for the Portuguese economy.

Carlos Barbosa, president of the ACP, emphasized the strength of the relationship with the WRC organizers, underlining the importance of the event in promoting motorsport in Portugal. "Confirming the rally's continuity in 2025 and 2026 reinforces our position as one of the most outstanding competitions globally," commented Barbosa.

"The Rally de Portugal deserves its place in the WRC calendar. This is a well-deserved recognition and we hope it continues for many more years," added Jona Siebel, Managing Director of WRC Promoter.

This agreement, pending approval by the FIA World Motor Sport Council, not only ensures the future of the Rally de Portugal but also solidifies its status as a must-attend classic on the WRC circuit.
