Clint Bowyer, former NASCAR Cup star and current Fox Sports commentator, will return to racing next month in the truck race at Nashville Superspeedway. Spire Motorsports announced that Bowyer will drive the No. 7 Chevrolet in the June race.
Bowyer, who retired from full-time competition after the 2020 season, will reunite with his former crew chief Brian Pattie. The two worked together at Michael Waltrip Racing from 2012 to 2015. "For me, it's about working with Pattie again and remembering the old times," said Bowyer, 44. "Nashville is a special track that has always been important to me."
With prior experience at Nashville Superspeedway, Bowyer has competed nine times in the Xfinity Series, achieving one win. "My NASCAR career began in Nashville. My first NASCAR win was here, and I've always had good results at this track," said Bowyer. "Working with Brian Pattie again is an opportunity I couldn't pass up."
In his truck series career, Bowyer has made 14 appearances between 2006 and 2016, securing three wins and several top-five finishes.
The No. 7 Spire Motorsports team has performed well this season, ranking fifth in the truck owners' standings after 11 races. Drivers like Kyle Busch have contributed to this success, winning twice with the team. "Having Clint Bowyer in our truck for Nashville shows Spire Motorsports' commitment to a truly stellar team," said Doug Duchardt, president of Spire Motorsports.
