Scott Dixon achieved another victory in the NTT INDYCAR series by winning the Detroit Grand Prix, a race marked by multiple incidents and decisive strategic decisions. Dixon, behind the wheel of his No. 9 Honda from Chip Ganassi Racing, along with his strategist Mike Hull, demonstrated great skill in managing fuel consumption in a race plagued by yellow flags.

Dixon defeated Marcus Ericsson, the winner of the Indianapolis 500, by 0.8567 seconds, achieving his best result of the season with Andretti Global team. Marcus Armstrong secured his first podium by finishing third.

"The team made a perfect call," said Dixon. "We were on the right strategy and we won. It was incredible."

With this victory, Dixon took the lead in the championship, surpassing his teammate Alex Palou by 18 points. This win marks Dixon's 58th victory in his career, nearing A.J. Foyt's record of 67 wins.

Kyle Kirkwood achieved his best result of the season by finishing fourth, while Alexander Rossi continued his strong performance by closing the top five.

Among the Latin American drivers, Pato O'Ward and Agustín Canapino had standout performances. O'Ward, aboard his Arrow McLaren Chevrolet, finished in a commendable seventh position. Despite multiple incidents on the track. Canapino, in his first full season in the series with Juncos Hollinger Racing, also had a solid performance, finishing in 12th position. The Argentine driver continues to demonstrate his adaptation to the category and his ability to compete at a high level.

The key for Dixon was a pit stop on lap 56, taking advantage of a yellow flag to save enough fuel until the end of the race on lap 100. This strategy worked perfectly, with two additional yellow flag periods allowing him to save enough fuel.

The race in Detroit was filled with incidents, with eight yellow flag periods in the first 73 laps, complicating teams' strategies. Unexpected rain on lap 34 added more chaos, forcing teams to quickly decide whether to switch to rain tires or stick with dry tires.

Dixon, Ericsson, and Kirkwood benefited from not switching to rain tires, allowing them to advance in the order and finish in the top positions. Dixon took the lead on lap 66 when Palou made his final pit stop.

The next event in the NTT INDYCAR series will be the XPEL Grand Prix at Road America on Sunday, June 9, with live coverage starting at 3:30 p.m. ET on NBC, Peacock, and the INDYCAR radio network.
