Despite Rain Delays, All Categories Competed and the Event Was a Success

On June 8, the third race of the Aquiles Speedway Park took place.

The activities were scheduled to start at 6 p.m., but the rain delayed them until after 9 p.m. due to the track conditions. The qualifying rounds for the vintage and modified categories were canceled due to delays caused by the bad weather, leaving the starting grid in the order established in previous days.

Novatos V8 Category

The event started with the Novatos V8 category, where Agustín Chavira Jr. took the lead from the third position on the first lap, adapting better to the wet track. Giancarlo Muñoz, who was fighting in the top 3, had terminal engine problems that forced him to retire after the first yellow flag restart. Due to a yellow flag a few laps from the end, the last restart was a green-white-checkered finish. Edwin Terrazas pressured Chavira but ultimately could not complete the pass.

Pony Expertos Category

The program continued with the Pony Expertos category, with 15 cars led by Jorge Gómez (17) and Alfonso Velarde (17JR) in the front row. When the green flag waved, they were quickly overtaken by Diego Acosta (35), Manuel Pérez Jr. (13), and Agustín Chavira Jr. (01), who fought for the top three positions. The second position was contested for several laps by Diego Acosta (35) and Agustín Chavira Jr. (01). In the following laps, there were no significant changes, and Manuel Pérez Jr. (13) escaped to the front to take the first position.

Estandar V8 Category

The program continued with the Estandar V8 category, also with 15 cars. Iván Carrasco (78P) held the first position for several laps but suffered a retirement early on, handing the position to Xavier Guerrero (44), who defended against Filiberto Guerra (F21) and Gustavo Pérez (18). Later, Filiberto Guerra (F21) took the first position, followed by his teammate Fernando Tapia (21) in second place, relegating Xavier Guerrero (44) to third. Xavier Guerrero (44) retired with one lap to go, handing the position to Óscar Carrasco (555).

Modified Category

Next was the Modified category, with only 7 cars competing. Aarón Córdoba (07) in first position and Humberto Pérez (8) in second position were the protagonists until they reached the lapped cars. Aarón Córdoba (07) made a mistake, handing the first position to Humberto Pérez (8). The podium was completed by Miguel Jurado (24).

Libre Category

Next was the Libre category, with only 3 late models and two invader cars from the Modified category. Keko Pérez (9) led all the laps of the competition. The second and third positions were contested between Gustavo Pérez (G3) and Aaron Córdoba (7), who had reduced visibility due to a part of his hood coming loose.

Pony Novatos Category

It was the turn of the Pony Novatos division, with the largest participation of all categories, with 19 cars competing. The race was contested between Alejandro Ruíz (42) and Miguel Flores (31) for the first position, until there was a neutralization due to a serious accident between Alberto Chacón Jr. (007) and Daniel Ochoa (97). After the restart, the fight for the first position involved 4 drivers: Alejandro Ruíz (42), Miguel Flores (31), César Figueroa (B02), and Elio Becerra (69). In the end, at the finish line, the duel for the first position was won by centimeters by Miguel Flores (31) over Elio Becerra (69) and César Figueroa (B02) in third place. However, there were changes in the classification, as Miguel Flores' (31) car was called for a technical inspection, and the car had to be confiscated at the Aquiles Speedway Park facilities. Due to Miguel Flores' refusal, as per the regulations, he was disqualified, and the points he had earned in previous races were eliminated.

The last race of the night was for the Vintage category. Jonathan Sigala (04) managed to overtake David Andujo (8) for the first position in the last meters. Roberto Ibarra Jr. (22JR) came in third.
