SuperTruck Design and Performance

The F-150 Lightning SuperTruck has been developed in collaboration with Ford Design and STARD Advanced Research and Development, incorporating advanced aerodynamic features that generate up to 6,000 pounds of downforce at 150 mph. Equipped with three STARD UHP 6-phase motors and ultra-high performance lithium-polymer NMC cells, the SuperTruck achieves over 1,400 horsepower.

To optimize performance, the vehicle features a range of aerodynamic elements such as a triple-element front wing, headlight ducts, hood ducts, side and rear diffusers, and a multi-element rear wing. It is also equipped with carbon-ceramic brakes, Pirelli P-Zero tires on forged magnesium wheels, and a custom in-board suspension system.

Experienced driver Romain Dumas, who holds the absolute record for the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, will be behind the wheel of the SuperTruck. This will be his ninth participation in the competition and his second with Ford Performance. Dumas has highlighted in preliminary tests, showing great enthusiasm for the new vehicle's capabilities and hoping for favorable weather conditions to achieve exceptional performance.

Innovation and Development

STARD has been a crucial part in the development and construction of the SuperTruck's powertrain, continuing the collaboration started with the SuperVan 4.0. According to Mark Rushbrook, Global Director of Ford Performance, participating in events like Pikes Peak allows Ford to develop more advanced and capable vehicles for their customers.

Ford's History at Pikes Peak

Ford has a long tradition at Pikes Peak, starting in 1916 with a Model T that completed the ascent in 28 minutes and 3 seconds. This year, Ford aims to surpass its own 2023 record, where the SuperVan 4.2 achieved a time of 8 minutes and 47.682 seconds.
