Gene Haas Will Reduce His Involvement in NASCAR in 2025
Gene Haas, founder of Haas Automation and NASCAR team owner for over two decades, will maintain his presence in motorsports in 2025, though on a smaller scale. Haas has decided to close his current team, Stewart-Haas Racing, at the end of the 2024 season. However, he will continue in NASCAR with a new structure.
New Approach in NASCAR
Starting in 2025, Gene Haas will retain a NASCAR Cup Series charter and operate a two-car team in the NASCAR Xfinity Series under the name Haas Factory Team. This change will allow Haas to continue promoting Haas Automation and expanding HaasTooling.com, albeit with a smaller operational load.
Statements from Gene Haas
"My commitment to motorsports hasn’t changed, just the scope of my involvement," Haas said. "Running a four-car team in the Cup Series has become very demanding, but I need a platform to promote Haas Automation. Presence in the Cup Series is crucial for our customers and distributors, while the Xfinity Series program provides a full experience for our guests and adds depth to our operation."
New Team Structure
Joe Custer will be the president of Haas Factory Team, and the team will operate from the existing Stewart-Haas facility in Kannapolis, North Carolina. Drivers and team partners will be announced leading up to the 2025 NASCAR season.
Stewart-Haas Racing, founded in 2009 by Tony Stewart and Gene Haas, will close at the end of the 2024 season. The team has been a reference in NASCAR, achieving multiple championships and victories over the years. Tony Stewart and Gene Haas issued a joint statement expressing their difficult decision to close the team and thanking their employees, partners, and fans for their support.
Achievements of Stewart-Haas Racing
During its existence, Stewart-Haas Racing has achieved:
- 2 NASCAR Cup Series championships (Tony Stewart in 2011 and Kevin Harvick in 2014).
- Over 70 victories in the NASCAR Cup Series.
- More than 50 pole positions.
- Over 400 top 10 finishes.
- 21 victories in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.
- 2 victories in the NASCAR Truck Series.
The team will work to ensure their employees find new opportunities beyond the 2024 season.
